BIOGRAPHIES

Abhey Singh is a Perth trained Gastroenterologist. After completing his Advanced Gastroenterology training in Perth, he undertook a two year clinical and research fellowship in Inflammatory Bowel Disease from Exeter, UK focusing on management of complex inflammatory bowel disease as well as research into IBD pharmacogenetics. He has keen interest in inflammatory bowel disease, coeliac disease, eosinophilic oesophagitis, functional gut disorders as well as general adult gastroenterology and endoscopy. He holds public appointments at Fiona Stanley Hospital, Fremantle Hospital and Rockingham Hospital.

Dr Lena Thin is a Consultant Gastroenterologist at Fiona Stanley Hospital with a special interest in Inflammatory Bowel Disease. Dr Thin is the IBD Research Lead for the IBD unit at Fiona Stanley Hospital and sits on numerous advisory boards. She has a keen interest in managing complex IBD issues and improving quality of care for IBD patients.

Leon Adams (MBBS, FRACP, PhD) is a Consultant Hepatologist at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and Professor in the Medical School, University of Western Australia. His research interests focus on MAFLD and non-invasive assessment of liver disease. He is chair of the GESA consensus steering committee for the assessment of fatty liver disease in primary care, and has served on numerous journal editorial boards, faculties and committees within GESA, the Australian Diabetes Society, Cancer Council Australia, the American Gastroenterology Association and American Association for the Study of Liver Disease.

Krish Ragunath moved from Nottingham University Hospital, UK to Australia in May 2019 under the Global Talent initiative after being appointed as Professor of Medicine at Curtin University Medical School, and Consultant Gastroenterologist at Royal Perth Hospital, Western Australia. His clinical and research interests include Advanced Endoscopic imaging, Endoscopic Ultrasound, Barrett’s oesophagus and Sustainability in Endoscopy. Krish initiated and launched the WA Barretts Registry www.wabor.org.au. He has co-edited the BSG Barrett's oesophagus guidelines, Quality standards in upper GI endoscopy, Guidelines for the management of gastric premalignant conditions and UK oesophageal dilatation guidelines. Krish is an active member of the East Metro Research Advisory Group, GESA Endoscopy Faculty and Sustainability Network. Has authored / co-authored >200 peer reviewed publications and text book chapters. He is Associate Editor for “Digestive Endoscopy” journal, member of the Editorial Board for 'Endoscopy', 'Gastrointestinal Endoscopy', Translational Gastroenterology & Hepatology journals. He was the recipient of the British Society of Gastroenterology, Hopkins Endoscopy Prize 2010.
