Prof. Dr. Luc Biedermann

Prof. Dr. Luc Biedermann has been a board-certified specialist for Gastroenterology & Hepatology and Internal Medicine since 2012. His special focus as a clinician in the Department of Gastroenterology & Hepatology of the University Hospital Zurich (USZ), Switzerland, is Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), Eosinophilic Oesophagitis (EoE) and other immune mediated gastrointestinal diseases. Since 2017 he has been head of IBD and EoE within the USZ department of Gastroenterology & Hepatology. His main clinical and research interests include epidemiology, natural history and course of disease, environmental factors, intestinal microbiota as well as drug development and clinical trials in IBD and EoE. Regarding EoE, it has been his pleasure for many years to host Prof. Dr. Alex Straumann, who first described EoE in 1994 (simultaneously and independently with Prof. Steven Attwood), for an intensive research collaboration and joint specialised unique outpatient EoE clinic at the USZ.

A/Prof Britt Christensen
Royal Melbourne Hospital, VIC

A/Prof Britt Christensen is the Head of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Unit at The Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH) and a clinical Associate Professor at The University of Melbourne. She studied Medicine at the University of Melbourne, and has completed a Masters of Public Health at Monash University, for which she was awarded a Medal of Academic Excellence. After completing her gastroenterology training, she was awarded the Joseph B. Kirsner fellowship and spent over 2 years undertaking advanced training in IBD at the prestigious University of Chicago Medicine.

Britt's research interests include treat-to-target end-points, biomarkers of disease activity, intestinal ultrasound for disease monitoring and pregnancy in IBD. She is a co-founder of the Victorian Immune Disease Tissue BioBank, a joint collaboration between The Royal Melbourne Hospital and WEHI. She set-up the intestinal ultrasound unit and the pregnancy-IBD service at RMHI, is a board member of the international bowel ultrasound group and vice-chair of the international bowel ultrasound group scientific committee.

Britt is the Chair-elect of the Australian IBD Faculty, incoming board member of GESA and is on the GESA research committee. In addition, she is the author of several book chapters on IBD, is a reviewer for many of the top journals in the field of gastroenterology and supervises several honours and PhD students.

A/Prof Greg Moore
Monash Medical Centre, VIC

A/Prof Greg Moore is Head of IBD at Monash Medical Centre in Melbourne and an Associate Professor at Monash University. He is a former Chair of the Australian Inflammatory Bowel Diseases Association and a Board member of Crohn's and Colitis Australia and Chair of the Medical and Scientific Committee of CCA.

He graduated from Monash University and completed Gastroenterology training at Monash Medical Centre and St. Vincent's Hospital Melbourne. He then undertook a basic science PhD at the University of Melbourne, and returned to found the Inflammatory Bowel Diseases Unit at Monash Medical Centre in 2007 where he oversees a multi-disciplinary IBD clinic providing tertiary referral services to the South East of Melbourne and country Victoria. Greg combines ongoing translational and clinical research and is an active undergraduate and post-graduate teacher.
