SPEAKERS BIOS

Kerrie-Goldsmith
Kerrie Goldsmith
Clinical Nurse Consultant, Eastern Health, Melbourne

Kerrie is an IBD CNC at Eastern Health, the Nurseline Nurse at Crohn’s and Colitis Australia, and Founding and current president of PSC Support Australia. For Kerrie, nursing has always been personal, having started a “caring” career in the kitchen of a nursing home at the age of 11. She completed her nursing qualifications at Alfred Hospital, and then a Graduate Diploma in Advanced Gerontology at Flinders University. Her nursing career changed in 2016 from a lifelong love of community aged care to IBD – and while she misses her beloved senior clients, she has embraced the change and enjoys learning about IBD and caring for patients of all ages. The change of career focus was largely prompted by her learning of PSC and IBD as she journeyed through her daughter’s diagnosis over the past 25 years. Kerrie is a keen patient advocate who strives to consider the patient viewpoint in her care, and believes that an informed patient who is actively involved in their care and decision making will achieve better outcomes.

Caroline Miller
Lead Clinical Care Nurse, Eastern Health, Inflammatory Bowel Disease Service, Melbourne

Caroline Miller is the Lead Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) for the Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) service at Eastern Health, where she has spent the last seven years delivering exceptional, patient-focused care to individuals with IBD in Melbourne’s Eastern region. Caroline’s nursing journey began in the Gastroenterology and Liver Transplant ward at Austin Health, where she advanced to the role of Associate Nurse Unit Manager. She expanded her expertise through positions such as Hepatobiliary Surgical Liaison Nurse and acting Nurse Unit Manager, providing care for patients with end-stage liver disease, transplant recovery, and a range of gastroenterological conditions. These experiences sparked her strong passion for supporting individuals with chronic illnesses, driving her ongoing commitment to compassionate and specialised care. Outside of her professional life, Caroline is a devoted mother of three who enjoys losing herself in a good book or cheering on her beloved Melbourne Demons.
